ARTIST STATEMENT
Technology increases the distance between humans and the body. I reconnect the two visually, using materials not traditionally associated with fine art. My recent work explores art as object, with the body's infrastructure as a central theme. Rather than use the artist model’s exterior as a visual reference, the foundation of my work is the model’s interior. Through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and other similar technologies, I reduce complex vascular systems to studies of line, form and gesture. These studies are the basis for my work with neon, computer drawings and photographic processes.
